Hello! In a book I have here on Linux and Robotics, the author proposes using One-Wire sensors to do something specific. He accesses them then using the DS2482 via the SMB bus which besides being a subset or even a superset of the I2C bus resides on the DIMM connectors.
I believe he's using the drivers from the Linux Sensors project for managing thermal issues on the motherboard via the Linux Kernel. Strangely enough he's not even aware of the OWFS project for controlling these sensors, but he is using one of the Linux aware methods for One-Wire uses. Now my question, how did one of us make use of the features on the DS2482 on or around a motherboard to control the One-Wire access methods? I should mention I do have a new project in the works using OWFS to control an application, in this case the DS2406 switches, and assorted logic. Paul if your curious regarding about the book, remind me off list and I'll track it down, it's hiding someplace, and I'll grab it and post the title in a response to the public discussion of this message. -- Gregg C Levine [email protected] "The Force will be with you always."
