There certainly shouldn't be. Where's it bumming out? How many items? Is there a pattern, is it random, or is it only loading the first part of the list?
Have you checked the page source to see if all the items are there but just not being displayed? If this is the case then it's just possible a CSS height property has been applied to the select element. This would be totally whack but wouldn't surprise me.
