Hi, If the customer has SQL Enterprise you could use Transparent Data Encryption<http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb934049.aspx> (TDE) which protects the database itself. Another option is AD RMS, while it does not encrypt documents in the document library itself, if the documents are downloaded by an unauthorized account the documents would remain protected.
There may be 3rd party add-ons which encrypt the content in the Document Library itself but then the content would not be searchable by anyone either.
