I have forwarded the response I got from Elizabeth Mattijsen, the author of the "forks" module (and many of the Thread::* modules on CPAN).
Thanks for the forward, Stephen. Obviously I had to try "forks" before saying that it obviously won't work under mod_perl. I'll add a few tests for mp2 test suite some time later. If that works, it's great (besides the windows problem).
