I don't think this was replied to...? Anyway, as I'm sure you've figured out by now, yes you need to add it explicitly. I'm a little wary of normalizing the HTTP request universally, in part because it means that subcomponents rely on higher-up components to do the right thing, which at its worse leads to security problems, and at its best just makes an implicitly coupled stack.
