I don't think this was replied to...?  Anyway, as I'm sure you've 
figured out by now, yes you need to add it explicitly.

I'm a little wary of normalizing the HTTP request universally, in part 
because it means that subcomponents rely on higher-up components to do 
the right thing, which at its worse leads to security problems, and at 
its best just makes an implicitly coupled stack.

Anyway, there's really several open issues I see in HTTP proxying 
(http://blog.ianbicking.org/http-proxying-questions.html) and I'm 
inclined to punt until I have a feeling that all these questions have 
good answers.
