That's what I probably would have done had the tutorial worked (others have posted solutions to fix it, so gotta see if I can use one of them to fix it). After that happened, I kind of stopped and decided maybe to try a different route and gain an understanding of the concepts first. It felt like I was being told how to make a house with a foundation already built for me, without anyone ever telling me what a house was or how the foundation was made in the first place. Sure, I could probably make something in the end, but then I wouldn't understand everything, nor would I have the knowledge to decide what things I really needed or didn't need.
