Again, I think it would be in order to make a few clarifications here (so as to
emphasise some points made in earlier messages but perhaps people didn't pick
up on).

Matthew is referring here to Microsoft WAVE files (PCM WAVE files if you like)
which ahve a limit of 1.8 gig. Their are other types of wave files which
Matthew referred to, Sony W64 WAVE files and broadcast WAVE files are 2
different standards. Now, I don't know about the broadcast WAVE file standard
but I can tell you (as Matthew has pointed out) that Sony W64 WAVE files are
unlimited in size (that is the only limits iimposed are those of the disk
format you're working with (FAT32 etc)).

Their are programmes (Total Recorder and Adobe Audition amongst them) which do
break the rules regarding Microsoft PCM WAVE files and I'm not sure how they go
about doing this (whether these pieces of software use their own standard and
convert it somewhere along the way without the user being any the wiser etc).

The limit of Microsoft PCM WAVE files is actually referenced in the Sound Forge
users manual (or it was last time I checked it) that's how I know about the
file size limit.

Hello, it's a limit of .wav files only, and DVD's are not .wav files, but
even if they were, they put them into chapters anyhow so it would be
separate tracks.
Thanks a lot.
