In Outlook Express, try CTRL-F3 instead of just F3.

I had the same experience.  I didn't know about this command, but I 
guess I
don't need to know if it isn't going to work.  I'm running OE with 
JAWS 6.0.

It could be JAWS 6 as I've found a few other things that aren't 
working
quite right.
