If you're using the start selection spin box for moving the cursor around, it's 
best to set the 
group of 2 radio buttons to length, rather than end.

Yes, you can use [ and ] to mark the beginning and end of the audio during 
playback.

During playback, you can jump/seek by short/long amounts, as described in the 
playback section 
of the guide, and this is useful for quickly moving to the audio you're 
interested in. Also as 
noted in the guide, you can adjust these short and long increments to whatever 
values you want.
