Yes you should listen to them first. I've heard the Marantz PMD671 which doesn't ixist no more apparently but I liked it kinda. I will note this and this is also a problem with Zoom for me too. It was too hissy. I don't want nor like hiss. It's to reminiscent of Casset tapes. That's why I kinda think on it when it comes to the H6. Epic that you could make a 5.1 recording out of it, but too hissy. So see if you can find examples of the new Marantz recorders and see for your self.
