depends on what you are shooting. i am pretty sure that with anything color, 4000dpi is as high as it is makes sense to go (and very rarely).
b&w is a different story though -- tmax100 seems to have frightening high res (although i don't have a lot of experience with it). best, mishka > I can see from my 35mm 100 speed film > negs that the 2400 dpi scanner I'm using > is inadequate.
