Windows XP is based on Windows NT, so it offers you NTFS as file system. There is also a disk fragementation when you use NTFS, but it is not as bad as on harddisks that are formatted as FAT16/32. With NTFS the Windows-integrated defragmentation tool is sufficient for my needs. Honestly - I use it very seldom and didn't notice any symptoms of disk fragmentation. Cheers, Heiko
