On a general note, any recommendations on lens hoods? Are the Pentax recommend worthwhile? Or has someone found something better.

The recommended hood is fine but quite large. I think you can use it with one filter and it still won't vignette but I have not tried the 20mm with both filter and hood to be sure of this.


If you won't put a filter on the lens, a smaller and lighter round hood that fits perfectly is the front part of the 2-part round metal hood for the Pentax 45-125mm lens (the other part is a step-up ring 58-67). It has the same diameter as the lens so it is easy to pack the lens + hood in a bag. There is a mere 1 mm of "play": any filter will push the hood too far and ther will be vignetting.

The PH-SB67 is a big square plastic hood for medium format that will also fit the lens, as reported on the list a few months ago.
