A friend of mine lived in Resolute Bay for a couple of years. One day he was out on the ice hunting Tarmagon when he had the distinct feeling that he was being watched. He looked over his shoulder to see a Polar Bear stalking him.
Wasn't carrying toothpaste was he? I heard polar bears are mad for it.
No, he was carrying a small bore rifle which was enough to persuade the bear to bug out.
Another time, he was on his way home on a snowmobile and one took after him. He managed to outrun it, he thought unscathed, but when he took off his parka, he discovered the back was shredded.
