Thanks for the info, and the link to the 300-800 article.

I plan on getting the Manfrotto to be used with my A* 300mm f/2.8
combined with the 1.7x AF converter, the 1.4x L, or both :-)

If Pentax does not come with new good long glass (DA* 200-500mm f/5.6 :-)
I may consider that Sigma at some point ...
