When I immigrated to the U.S. in 1967 my family came by ship (the
Queen Elizabeth I). I guess that, aside from refugees on rafts and
such, we were part of the last wave of the last generation to do so.
Cunard stopped transatlantic service later than summer.

Anyway, all good immigrants are supposed to view the Statue of Liberty
as they sail into New Your harbor, but as luck would have it we
arrives in the wee hours of the morning and missed it. I've still
never visited it, though I'd rather like to
