It arrived as one of the last courier deliveries of the day, and as it has a different battery and charger (not great but part of the 'make it smaller' drive), I was forced to charge that, and it was dark by the time it was fully charged.
It comes with the small grip attached - one Allen key bolt with Allen key provided - and I'm not sure who will use the small, as my wife with small hands found that grip too small. The camera is indeed smaller, but it is well laid out control wise. With a small lens, a 40mm pancake maybe, it would pass for a point and shoot from a small distance, and I think that might work well for street photography, and the tilt screen is useful. The different grips are a good idea, although as I have big hands the large will be the only suitable grip for me. I wouldn't want the camera any smaller. However, this was all about the high ISO abilities to me. I attach two photos, one of the box, and one I took indoors. So far, I've only taken 5 pictures with it, and so I have much to get used to with it. One of the pictures I took outside at 204,500 ISO just to see in the dark to see if it could get a moving car, and whilst the image looked like a surveillance photo as it was so grainy, I was astonished to see the registration number/license plate readable. The K3 wouldn't work on this at all - I tried. Again with the picture of my cat, I tried to make it as hard as possible for the camera, with really low light, so I had trouble seeing her, a smallish aperture, quick shutter speed and then processed and cropped the image in Lightroom, to further stress the image. Obviously that's not a picture you're going to use day to day, but for a hand held shot (where the K 3 wanted several seconds exposure), this opens up a new world for me. I'm happy. I'll certainly be able to use a much higher ISO than I currently do and be useable. I think they've made a camera that suits me, but time will tell if it suits anyone else. If it was a choice between a K3 (K3 II) or a K-P, it would be an easy choice for the former. I'm therefore not sure if I was buying a Pentax DSLR for the first time I'd even look at the K-P.
