I've owned Pentax cameras (with one exception) since 1968, and have never had cause to complain. Like all mechanical or electronic items, they can break and need repairs, but I've only once had to send a Pentax camera in for repair! I expect to be using my current crop (MZ-S, *ist-d, K5ii-s, SV and a couple of other older models) until hell freezes over. I'll be sorry if Ricoh do drop out, they've done some good stuff in the last few years - BUT, they do need to market!
The fact is at my age my Pentax kit will probably outlast me, so I'm good to go! I doubt if it will affect me much, if at all. I anticipate buying at most one more traditional DSLR - I don't feel tempted by the K1, but might be interested if there was a follow-up APS-C model with most of the improvements from the K1 (and, no doubt, a few more as well). If that doesn't materialise I'll probably either stick with what I have today or switch over to Olympus; the EPL1 has served me well over the years, but is several generations behind in sensor technology (though still good enough for casual everyday use ). -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions. -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
