Most of the fires were put out by the previous storms, about 3 weeks/a month ago. My part of the world did not have the massive fires that were happening in Victoria and New South Wales, the nearest to me was about 40k away. Our main concern has been drought, and so this rain was very welcome indeed (except when you are trying to load a car with 25 boxes of stuff and it won't stop!) in drought-declared areas.
