I love my Slik 444-Sport. It only weighs 4 pounds and folds to 19 inches. I don't think it would take a ballhead, but it has been great for my purposes, and it's taken a lot of abuse from me in the past year. I paid about $120 for it at B&H. http://www.tocad.com/14d.html Hope this helps! Amita
