Charles,
I haven't looked at a LaRouche paper in a long time and have, frankly,
tried to stay away from those folks as much as possible. Back near the end
of the leftist stage they "targeted" me as somebody important that they
wanted especially to recruit. The upshot was a lot of unpleasantness and
some lessons. I agree with those who say that not all that they say is
either wrong or wacko, even now, although much of it is either or both.
LaRouche used to have a lot of contacts in the intelligence community
of various sorts. He has (or had) an international network with a lot of
pretty smart people in it and gathered a lot of info that he could use for
trading. I think that his ability to do this got hit badly with his jail
term, although I don't know. As I noted, he had initial contacts dating
back to his own professional experience in WW II.
I have no idea what his current funding sources are, although it was
funding and credit card fraud that got him thrown in jail in the first
place. Back when he made his switch to the right some people claimed that
funding was another aspect of it. There's a lot more money on the right
than on the left, surprise surprise. Allegedly some of it was anti-Semitic
midwestern industrialists, one of LaRouche's raps being an alleged
contradiction between finance (read Jews, etc.) and industrial capital.
Supposedly he also got money from the Iraqis, which may have started when he
was left and then went right. Needless to say, a conspiratorial character
like LaRouche attracts a lot of rumors and few definite facts.
