gas. Natural gas currently powers about 20 percent of
the United
States'
electricity plants, but that rate is sharply rising
because low cost
has
made gas the fuel of choice. In 2003, more than 300
new gas-fired power
stations were built, and 90 percent of new electricity
plants are
powered by gas.
