On my infinite todo list I have an item for adding a perl5 POD -> GNU Texinfo conversion script. Then you can generate indexed docs you can easily search through, dump the whole thing as a big man/HTML/PDF etc. Or you could just concat all the existing core manpages now to get some of that.
