PgSQL 7.4 is still supported by the latest PostGIS versions.

As is PgSQL 8.1 and (when it comes) 8.2.

Probably not. You will need a postgis version for 7.4.

So use the SRPMs to build RPMs for you. I don't have 7.4+RHEL4 around to
