On the contrary, this *is* the best way.  Try loading data, especially from 
very chatty NT boxes, then reload everytime you do a search, see how long 
this takes.  You can always run this from cron, same way you do 
logrotate.php, or even manually after you've pointed a new server at it, but 
*not* dynamically, that would be far too ineffective...
