It seems this is not the problem. I rised the memory_limit in
/etc/php5/cgi/php.ini from 128M to 512M

Is it a problem this entry as root node:

    # a.b.c.d
    dn: dc=a,dc=b,dc=c,dc=d
    objectClass: top
    objectClass: dcObject
    objectClass: organization
    o: abcd
    dc: a

with this entry in the conf.php?

  $ldapservers->SetValue($i,'login','dn','cn=admin,dc=a,dc=b,dc=c,dc=d');

I can't imagine any other problem coming from configuration... except for a
remote and strange assumption PLA might be doing when expanding...

Right now my configuration is phpldapadmin-1.1.0-alpha4, cherokee-0.5.6-2,
php5-cgi-5.2.3-1+lenny1.

Thanks in advance,
  Lluis
