Dear All,
Thank you to those who took efforts to write me on this list.
This give me lot of happiness that now, i could logonto the server, using the
userid-"Manager".
Previously, I was not able to logonto the LDAP server via the phpldapadmin and
get authenticated.
Now
with the same config.php file, i need to test, logging into the LDAP
(slapd) server via the phpldapadmin browser with a userid-say,
"jmaan"
What i have done is :-
1) imported the correct jmaan.ldif file to the bdb database.
2) have run the command:-
system-config-authentication and configured the LDAP server
3) now that, when i started the slapd server, and logged out as root
4)when tried to log onto to the systems, using the uid=jmaan, could not log
onto the system, successfully.
5)
the userid "jmaan" is however being displayed on the list of users in
the User Interface, where other userids are shown like say "root".
6) i have also checked that the userid-"jmaan" is there by using the command-
finger command.
so, i am sure the userid-"jmaan" is there in the system.
7) Now there are many other users that need to log onto the ldap (slapd)
server. I wanted to test with userid-"jmaan".
Plz I request all those members who have successfully completed the
authentication functionality with the
ldap server through the phpldapadmin browser.
With Thanks And Regards,

Subject: phpldapadmin login problem with the DN!
Dear All Members,
This is Jyotishmaan.
I have a small problem with phpldapadmin.
These are the lines of config.php file, which i have changed:-
$ldapservers->SetValue($i,'server','name','My LDAP Server: [EMAIL PROTECTED]');
$ldapservers->SetValue($i,'server','host','127.0.0.1');
$ldapservers->SetValue($i,'server','base',array('dc=nits,dc=ac,dc=in'));
$ldapservers->SetValue($i,'server','auth_type','session');
$ldapservers->SetValue($i,'login','dn','');
$ldapservers->SetValue($i,'login','dn','cn=Manager,dc=nits,dc=ac,dc=in');
$ldapservers->SetValue($i,'login','pass','');
$ldapservers->SetValue($i,'login','pass','secret');
with
the above lines in config.php i am getting the following error message
displayed while logging onto the LDAP server with the phpldapadmin
browser:-
Could not bind to the LDAP server. LDAP said: Unknown errorError number: 0x1a
()Description:
Please note I have not used either TLS or SASL to connect or authenticate with
the LDAP server. Is it important to do ??
However,
i have added two entries into the bdb database over the ldap from the
root prompt using ldap command. the transcript of it is as given below:-
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
bin]# ldapadd -x -D "cn=Manager,dc=nits,dc=ac,dc=in" -W -f
/etc/openldap/test/.ldif/etc/openldap/test/.ldif: No such file or
directory
[EMAIL PROTECTED] bin]# ldapadd -x -D "cn=Manager,dc=nits,dc=ac,dc=in" -W -f
/etc/openldap/test/new.ldif
Enter LDAP Password:
adding new entry "dc=nits,dc=ac,dc=in"
adding new entry "cn=Manager,dc=nits,dc=ac,dc=in"
But since i have the phpldapadmin browser,
i would like to add all the entries using the browser.
Please let me know the necessary changed that needs to be done in the
config.php file.
One more question, here i have to run the slapd deemon manually in the
directory, /usr/bin/slapd -d 65 &
I wish to run it directly using the command :-
service slapd restart
Now, should i include this service name directly in the file /etc/services file?
I would not like to take risk, so please help me???
Thanking you, for all the answers, in advance,
Jyotishmaan
