There seems to be some bugginess(tm) with the processing here.

If you have no <value> statements in the template, PLA should detect 
that the attribute is boolean and display a TRUE/FALSE, and this appears 
to work as expected. (I've tested on the demo site.)

However, if you supply value statements (to enable the template to 
pre-select a default), then the update appears to use 0/1 (depending on 
the order of the <value> statements. This is a bug and needs to be fixed.

Can you please submit a bug report, and I'll take a look at it when I 
get a chance. (Or if you submit a patch, it'll be fixed quicker ;)
