Ed, The Desktop directory is not a configuration file; it's a user directory.

Interesting. On the laptop ~/Desktop has only one attribute: e. That's not shown in the man page and it's neither i or a. Perhaps removing the e (whatever that is -- I'll look for an explanation) will help. Thanks, Rich
