Don't buy Redhat Linux 7.0 if you don't want to spend
the next couple of hours updating the compiler to a
workable one. GCC "2.96" is very unstable - it doesn't
even compile the kernel, or a medium-length C++
program. I've tried (and bought) RH7.0 and I regretted
it (I can't upgrade the kernel or even compile my
machine problems for school). Better settle with RH
6.2, (or try 7.1 or even wait for 7.2) or if you're
willing to go for maintainability then I suggest you
go Debian. Or if you're a masochist then go for
Slackware or build the GNU/Linux system from scratch.
