I think it could definitely be useful, but people would have to find it
first. You could create a small and simple web page stating the issue at
hand, how you solved it, plus the source. It's amazing how many times
I've found small to-the-point pages like that helpful. Eventually Google
would take care of helping people find it.

It use the "convert" command of ImageMagick and a
basic C++ application to convert from BMP to PNG in
order to use the pngwriter-library.
It is able to convert without options from other
formats (not just bmp) to PNG.

After I create this, i realize that the same can be
done with a simple BASH command line including
convert. But for novice the little application is ok.
