Alpha scanning - I would refer you to the EPRI Guidelines Appendix D (D-3) for 
technique and discussion of scan MDC.  I would also suggest MARSSIM Appendix J 
- DERIVATION OF ALPHA SCANNING EQUATIONS
PRESENTED IN SECTION 6.7.2.2 particularly equations J-5 and J-6.

EPRI Alpha Guideline Requirement GA-47 reads:  "Personnel should be evaluated 
and physically surveyed for alpha contamination when exposed to beta-gamma to 
alpha activity ratios of ≤ 50:1 according to the job work plan. [GS-47] ent 
GS-47 reads:  "Personnel should be evaluated and physically surveyed for alpha 
contamination when exposed to beta-gamma to alpha activity ratios of ≤ 50:1 
according to the job work plan."  Following work in a  ≤ 50:1 area:


·         Who decides between a whole body alpha frisk and a frisk of likely 
areas such as face, hands, elbow, knees and soles?

·         What are the criteria upon which this decision is based?

·         How long does a full body alpha frisk take?
