Alpha scanning - I would refer you to the EPRI Guidelines Appendix D (D-3) for technique and discussion of scan MDC. I would also suggest MARSSIM Appendix J - DERIVATION OF ALPHA SCANNING EQUATIONS PRESENTED IN SECTION 6.7.2.2 particularly equations J-5 and J-6.
