Dear Colleagues, You are cordiallyinvited to participate in The International Conference on Palestine, to be held in the prominent statenational campus of University of Indonesia, Depok, from 14th to 15th May 2008 (08.00 am-05.30 pm). 15 May 2008 marks the 60thanniversary of the Nakba (catastrophe) , the ethnic cleansing of major parts of Palestine in 1948, perpetrated in order to make room for the State of Israel. Millions of Palestinian refugees have since lived in exile, others are newlydisplaced as a result of Israel's 40 years-old occupation and colonization ofthe West Bank (including Jerusalem) and the Gaza Strip, and the construction ofits Wall, all in violation of international law. Theconference will be hosted by Voice of Palestine, the Indonesian society for Palestine freedom, in cooperation with The Center for Middle East and Islamic Studies, University of Indonesia. The selected theme for this conference is "Freedom and Right of Return: Palestine and 60 Years of Ethnic Cleansing". This important event will provide opportunity for the hundreds of participants worldwide to learn about the most central issues on theconflict over the historic Palestine, to share ideas and informations, toexchange experiences, to make new contacts , and to build strong networks fordefending the rights of the oppressed people in historic Palestine.
