On top of that, the MP is v4l2 only... so I have to redo everything I've done as far as encoding live with vlc and passing it off to a Darwin Streaming Server for the world to see...

Hello all!

There seem to be two versions of the Logitech Quickcam Sphere: The old version and the newer version "MP". Logitech-support confirmed that there are new features with "MP" (videoeffects, avatars, right-sound-technology) today but they could not give me information if the hardware is still the same.

Newer logitech camera is managed by the linux-uvc driver. It's a generic
driver for all Usb Video Class (like the usb mass-storage).
Could you tell me if the "MP" is supported from pwc-driver, too?

Or would you suggest to decide for a Philips SPC900NC to use with pwc-driver (and motion)?

The spc900nc can do only 640x480, but i found the image quality better than
the quickcam pro 4000.
