Hi all,
Just wanted to spread the word about a book I have written. It's called
Plone 3.3 Site Administration, and is available from PACKT publishing
(hopefully) in June 2010:
http://aclark.net/admin
It's aimed at beginners, both of Plone and Python. I.e. folks that
perhaps have used Plone through the web (e.g. system administrators,
website content editors, etc.)
In the first chapter, I go to great lengths to try to explain the
relationship between various installations of Python on various
operating systems, and the applications that run on top.
Much effort is made to explain and promote Distribute, in the hopes that
folks will jump on the band wagon in time for Distribute2 to appear
(later this year?)
The rest of the book aims to de-mystify Buildout (zc.buildout) for the
hundreds, if not thousands of Plone-users that continue to be baffled by it.
There is a "single buildout" that runs throughout all the chapters,
where the examples accomplish various "site administration" tasks.
I hope you will try to help spread the word! And consider purchasing a
copy, if the subject matter is of interest to you.
Alex
