I'm not being rude, but I didn't even understand the query!

I tried the YouTube link too, the comments under the video are just as cryptic. Maybe I'm too old for this stuff nowadays?

:-(
Neither did I for the most part. Especially when I noticed the sender had spelt his name (which I obviously removed) in two different ways in the email.

The first part could be answered with a reference to Peter Graf's QL-SD card project from Memory Lane Computing, and to Minerva dual-screen mode, but much of the rest of it stumped me. And there was me hoping it was just me having a bad brain day :o(

I have some experience with this contact...

Basically it is a fairly simple request - he uses both a QL and ZX Spectrum (plus other computers, such as a Sam Coupé) and is always pushing for new development.

He has some knowledge of product design and has talked to me about this very topic in the past...

Basically he has in mind the old CD-player to cassette convertors, whereby a fake cassette is pushed into a cassette player, and instead of having magnetic tape containing the data (or music), the fake cassette uses some electronic means of playing the original sound to the cassette head.

He would like to see a similar thing for use in a standard ZX Microdrive or QL Microdrive unit - although instead of converting the output from a CD player to a cassette player, it would convert the output from an SD card reader (of some type) to a Microdrive unit.

Admittedly, it would not overcome the issues of speed, but would be a quick replacement for people struggling with disintegrating microdrive cartridges.

I did speak to Peter Graf about this a couple of years ago - and he said that it would just be too expensive a solution, even if it were feasible.
