Additional information...
1. a QxButton needs a setAllowStretchX set to true to fill the width of
a column, according to example Gridlayout_10.html
2. while a QxTextField needs a setAllowStretchX set to false not to fill
the width of a column.
Is there any reason for these widgets to have different default values?
There are many widgets which have different default values for different
things. It's set upped in a way that it's logical for the most persons.
This above solves the filling issue, but does not solve the
selfadjusting size and position grid issues.
Yes, self-adjusting mean auto-sizing in qooxdooish. ;) This is as
explained before not supported.

Hej!
Statements about grid layout...
1. It does not seem to be possible to stop filling the whole cell width
of a column for an added text field. It means that all widgets in the
same column in a grid layout will all have the same width. No auto
parameter only a fixed static size.
2. No layout widgets are today possible to adjust themselves with sizes
and positions according to the parent's changes of sizes.
3. The setWidth method for individual widgets put in a grid layout does
not have any effect at all.
Are all statements above true? Is this the intention? How is it then
thought to solve the normal way of creating an advanced form where you
do not want absolute positioning or absolute sizes? By using multiples
of horizontal and vertical boxes? That would be a less beneficial way.
Absolute positioning is not an alternative.
Why is the grid layout connected with setColumnWidth and setRowHeight,
when a better way would be to adjust itself after the widgets sizes in
the grid, at least as an alternative? Is there a performance limitation?
HTML table limitation? or is it just a design issue?
I must say that if it is like I have stated above, I do not really like
the design of the grid layout. There seem to be very big limitations for
creating an advanced form with relative sizes and positions of widgets,
and relative parent resizing and positioning.
