Works great out of the box. I am interested in developing this further.
To make this class work for me I would need the following:
- A registry system where each widget is added so I can access a reference
to it later by widget id
- I dont like the useFirstChildAs, useSecondChildAs pattern. Is this how
QxBuilder does it? Maybe we can create a plugin system with definitions for
each widget and how allowed sub-widgets should be used in constructing the
javascript. The widget definitions can then also validate allowed attributes
etc...
- The reliance on $_SESSION should be removed as this should be an
independent library that can be run in any context
How do you suggest we go about developing this lib? Do you have a CVS or SVN
repository I can connect to and branch or should I send you updates and you
merge them? I could look into hosting this project including a wiki etc...
I think the best way to test the lib would be to implement the test cases
and examples that qooxdoo offers in XML and try to reproduce the same
functionality. That way we know we have all use cases covered.
Thoughts?

could you have a look at the PHP-QxBuilder? I could imagine that we could
adapt it for use in the PHP app framework envisioned by you. I have started
using it inside PHPCake with good results. I use PHPTAL to render the XML
and then transform it to JavaScript with this class. I would love to share
the burden of further developing the class, and since it could benefit all
of us ...
