Hi Stefan, thank you. You are right, one could certainly try to speed up loading the demo application. On the other hand, it's just a demo which contains almost the complete "widget" branch of the qooxdoo Demo Browser, plus several showcase mini applications, in a single file. I found this approach more convenient from the user's point of view because after the app has been loaded accessing the widget demos is much faster than with the Demo Browser.
I'm not sure if I understand what you mean by "flickering" in the context of FF's selection background problem. Even on my slow machine I hardly experience any flickering. What does happen, of course, is some kind of flicker when the browser requests a previously unused image from the server, but I'm sure this is not what you are talking about. Could you tell us a bit more about this issue?
