I like the data binding and acts (specifically looks) like the table - it's
just that combination doesn't exist together yet.

Are there any plans to allow the qx.ui.tree.VirtualTree to behave & look
like a table (as an option) ?
No, not really. We want to keep the tree a tree and not a table. The new
virtual table is an other widget which might get such a feature. But thats far
in the future and wont be available soon.
If not - can I raise an enhancement bug? :)
I don't think its necessary because we won't do it anyway. There are already
bugs for a new virtual table and a controller for the old table / virtualtree.
But none of that is fixed. I did some tests with the table controller some time
ago. If you are really into data binding, you can check out my gist to and see
if you could get it working:

Its just a prototype so won't get any support or changes. I think you also have
to tweak the data binding by making the __getTargetFromChain public.
