Well, I hope you are using a current version of the contrib ... ;-)

Anyway, why don't you add whatever diagnostic output you want in the upload
contrib's source code?

BWT, what does "not as robust as I'd like it to be" mean? We use it a lot
and didn't have any problems with it.
