I'd try

curve(dnorm(x), add=TRUE)

Some diddling of ylim= is usually required. 


I'd usually prefer qqnorm() for normality checks, though; it is pretty hard to 
assess the tails of density plots.
 
Also notice rstandard(), rstudent().
