Just as there are several types of punctuation marks, , ; : . also called comma, semi-colon, colon, period (or full stop on the east side of the Atlantic), so to are there two types of brackets [ ) also called square brackets, parenthesis. It is clear that a ) although is a type of bracket it is called a parenthesis, just as , is called a comma, which is a type of punctuation mark. John
