RGui is not an editor. It is a console (aka REPL, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Read%E2%80%93eval%E2%80%93print_loop).
When using RGui, it is up to you to edit your R file in an external editor like Notepad++ and copy paste code snippets or use source("yourfile.R") as desired.
