Hola Juan.
findMRCA takes the tip labels - not the tip numbers (if I remember
correctly). That means that the vector tips should be a vector of class
'character'. So, even if your tip labels are 16 & 17, this should be
tips=c("16","17"). I'm not sure that this is your problem - but it might be.
