Dear all, Some time ago, Liam Revell kindly provided the code that is now incorporated into phytools in the add.species.to.genus function, which randomly adds an additional species to a genus on a phylogeny. However, this function either adds a species to the root node, or to the branches after the MRCA of all species in a genus.
Can anyone envision a way in which it would also be possible to add tips to the branch between the root and the MRCA of all species in a clade? Preferably in a way that could be analogous to a model of diversification (e.g. pure birth)? Thanks!
