I cannot figure out why this is. I'm 99% sure it's a configuration problem with his system, but it may not be. If anyone is still running Mac OS X 10.4.x (preferably on a non-intel G4 machine, but architecture shouldn't matter), could you do me a huge favor and download this file. Just let me know if it opens fully and allows you to interact with the buttons/menus etc, or if it crashes on launch before you can do anything. The error he is getting is of the infamous NilObjectException class. I'd really appreciate some feedback, as I'm going crazy trying to figure out if it's my code or not. Thanks! The file (time and billing software suite for attorneys) is downloadable here: http://www.applesource.us/pub/bin/files ... _law_1.zip THANK YOU _________________ AppleSource Software http://www.applesource.biz Top pony Post subject: Re: Anyone on Mac OS 10.4.x, please read thisPosted: Fri Aug 21, 2009 7:35 pm Joined: Sat Nov 11, 2006 2:43 pm Posts: 180 Location: DFW area, Texas, USA I presume you got the user to drag their "TimeNet Law Data" directory out of the preference's folder to ensure its not just a corrupt pref file? I was able to crash your application by deliberately corrupting the prefs.txt file before launching the application. And of course the program will crash if you deliberately sabotage the preferences file. =p _________________ AppleSource Software http://www.applesource.biz Top applesource Post subject: Re: Anyone on Mac OS 10.4.x, please read thisPosted: Fri Aug 21, 2009 8:00 pm Joined: Thu Aug 06, 2009 2:25 pm Posts: 79 Location: Oregon Pony, are you on Mac OS X 10.4.x? And you were able to successfully get into and use the application? _________________ AppleSource Software http://www.applesource.biz Top pony Post subject: Re: Anyone on Mac OS 10.4.x, please read thisPosted: Fri Aug 21, 2009 8:11 pm Joined: Sat Nov 11, 2006 2:43 pm Posts: 180 Location: DFW area, Texas, USA applesource wrote:Pony, are you on Mac OS X 10.4.x? Its an old eMac that runs my phone switchboard for the office, and runs the security camera software. You could install 10.4 on to an external HD and test it yourself. Do you have a 10.4 installer disk? All I have is the Leopard install. Hence why I'm on here depending on the kindness of strangers to give the app a quick go. Thanks very much for your time pony, I really appreciate it. I've tested my code on 10.4 about 8 months ago, before we updated the last computer to 10.5, and not much of the core file handling code has changed, so I'm kind of at a loss here. I'm chalking it up to user error, as over the last several weeks there have been quite a few reports of people having issues with their data, when simply it was a data folder in the wrong path, or something similar. I've tested this on an intel iMac, a PPC eMac G4, a PowerBook G4, an intel MacBook, and an intel MacBook Pro. Works fine under all conditions. So I can't figure out where this NilObjectException is just popping up out of the blue on this guy's computer. _________________ AppleSource Software http://www.applesource.biz Top pony Post subject: Re: Anyone on Mac OS 10.4.x, please read thisPosted: Fri Aug 21, 2009 8:52 pm Joined: Sat Nov 11, 2006 2:43 pm Posts: 180 Location: DFW area, Texas, USA If you don't have any luck this evening finding someone on here with 10.4 then drop me a PM. I can install 10.4 on an external HD on the eMac in the morning and give your program a quick look over. i wish I still had VPN access to my old company, I could have tested it on any OS version.
