Location: Torrance, CA I apologize if I've stepped on any toes or
am asking this question in the wrong place, but I was interested in finding out
if anyone knows how REAL Software handles the situation of renewals after your
updates have expired.

Right now I've got a license to REALbasic Pro, from 2008r5. I'm interested in
updating my version of RB to a more recent one, however, I can't find any
information on what happens if I purchase a renewal license now. Is it
retroactive and do I have to pay for the time I didn't renew my REALbasic Pro
license? Like let's say tomorrow I purchased an additional year of RB Pro
updates, and my update license expired in 2008 with 2008r5:

(KEY: Green = renewal license valid; Red = Retroactive payment time; Grey =
expired time)

<---2008r4---------2008r5--------2009r1--------2009r2----------2009r3---------2009r4
 (now)-->

Do I have to pay retroactively, like so:

<---2008r4---------2008r5--------2009r1--------2009r2----------2009r3---------2009r4
 (now)-------2009r5---------2010r1-------2010r2-->

Or does the license take effect immediately upon purchase and will last for the
full time of the update license, ignoring the past expired time:

<---2008r4---------2008r5--------2009r1--------2009r2----------2009r3---------2009r4
 (now)-------2009r5---------2010r1-------2010r2-->

I'm sure there's someone here who knows the answer to this question, I just
couldn't find anything on the RS website about it. Thank you for your patience!

Location: California Your expired time is ignored. The plan you
pay for is good from the day you pay for it till the day it expires.

Posts: 100 Yeah I had up until REALbasic 2007R1, then took a break
for a few years and renewed right when REALbasic 2009R4 came out. My
professional subscription is now valid until next year around this time.
