The enclosed application will not run on my (Snow Leopard) system unless one is logged in as the administrator. If one is not logged in as administrator, the .app bundle shows a 'no entry' symbol instead of the normal icon, and when executed, the OS message says it may be damaged or incomplete. However, the problem is obviously due to permissions settings on the app bundle or some file(s) inside it, because the icon appears properly and executes normally for an administrator! BTW, Release 3 works just as it should for all users. I have asked REAL Software for tech support, but the reply was, "gee, we've never heard of this before; ask on the forums." I have already tried re-downloading and reinstalling; and I even waited a couple of weeks and retried again, just in case REAL Software discovered the problem and issued a new .dmg to fix it. I have tried using Disk Utility to fix permissions--I didn't think that would work, but I did try it just in case. I have tried using the Finder's Get Info to set the bundle's sharing options so that all users can read and execute the bundle. That did not work either. It think the permissions problem is some deeper Unixy thing that I do not understand. Has anyone overcome this problem so that an ordinary user can run Release 4? Here is an image of what an ordinary user sees after double-clicking on the REALbasic 2009 Relase 4.app icon: P.S.: I love you all, but replies of "I don't have this problem" are never helpful...
