Well you may ask. I think the whole replacement of GMDs with media terms to be a mistake. But given that mistake, and without knowing what use would be made of ,edia terms (in creating display, in crosswalk to Bibframe), I think the point is to be truthful. For items such as illustrated childrens' books, art exhibition catalaogues, art history books, and some travel books; the illustrations are as important an aspect of content text. The library might opt to display above all other data: Formet: volume ; text, still image The 300 unit name should be more exact than the 338 carrier term, e.g., the 338 says online resource, while the 300 unit name might be PDF; the 338 says videodisc, thile the 300 unit name might be DVD. Repeating the 338 term in 300 is certainly redundant. Yes, 300 says "ill." or "illustrations". but stanardized 33X might be easier to use as search criteria. __ __ J.
